Receptionist · For tradies
An AI receptionist for tradies.
Nobody can answer a phone from under a house or halfway up a ladder, and a caller who reaches voicemail rings the next number on the list. Receptionist answers on the first ring, books the job into the gaps in your week, and texts you what it booked.
Built for work that happens at the customer’s address.
It books around where you will be
Open slots are your hours, minus the jobs already booked, minus the time you have blocked out — with a travel buffer kept free either side of every job, so two bookings never land back to back on opposite sides of town.
It checks the address before it books
The caller’s address is looked up and read back in its official form, and a job cannot be booked until it has been. Set a service radius and an address outside it is politely declined, with the offer of a message instead.
It knows the jobs you do, and the ones you do not
List your services and what they cost, and the work you will not take on. It quotes your prices in your own words and never adds them into a total it made up. A job in neither list is never guessed at: your team gets a text asking, and the first Yes or No back is the answer.
Emergencies go to whoever is on call
It sorts each call as normal, urgent or an emergency. On an emergency it gives the one safety step that is always right — ring triple zero if anyone is hurt or there is a fire — and puts the caller through to your emergency line, or out of hours to the phone of whoever is on call. An electrician’s callers are also told to switch off at the main switch if it is safe to reach.
It works with ServiceM8 and the calendar you keep
Connect ServiceM8 and jobs on your Dispatch Board become busy time, while a booking it takes goes back into ServiceM8 as a client and a job. Google Calendar, Microsoft 365, or any calendar link from Outlook or iCloud work the same way: it never books over something already there.
The crew finds out by text
Every booking, change and message goes by text to the people you list, with what somebody needs on a phone screen: who, where, what for and when. Each text is recorded as sent or not sent, with the reason in plain words.
One receptionist, for any trade.
Plumbers, electricians, air-conditioning and refrigeration, carpenters, roofers, landscapers, cleaners, pest control, locksmiths, handymen — the software is the same for every trade, because what changes is what you type in: your services, your prices, your area and your hours. You can see a whole call, line by line, on the homepage.
What tradies ask before they switch it on.
- Can an AI receptionist book jobs for a plumber or electrician?
- Yes. Receptionist answers the call, works out what the job is, checks the address against your service area, and books it into an open slot in your diary with travel time kept free either side. The tradie doing it gets a text with the details.
- Will it book a job outside my service area?
- No. Set a service radius from your base and Receptionist checks every address before it books; one outside the radius is declined, and the caller is offered a message instead.
- Does Receptionist work with ServiceM8?
- Yes. Scheduled jobs on your ServiceM8 Dispatch Board become busy time, so it never double-books you, and every booking Receptionist takes is created in ServiceM8 as a client and a job.
- What does it do with an after-hours emergency call?
- It tells the caller to ring triple zero if anyone is hurt or there is a fire, then puts them through to whoever you have on call out of hours. If nobody answers, it takes the details as a message and texts the person who missed it.
- Do I have to change the number on my van?
- No. Divert your existing number to Receptionist, or move it across. Nothing printed anywhere has to change.
Want it answering your phone?
Setting it up is a conversation, not a form: what it says, what it books and who it puts through are yours to decide, and the person who writes the software is the person you talk to.
