General fitness and wellbeing only — not medical advice

This is a general wellbeing app

HealthPal AI is for general fitness and wellbeing. Everything it shows you — targets, totals, trends, recipe suggestions, training plans and written plan reviews — is general information, not personal medical advice.

It is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or condition, and it is not designed or approved for any of those things.

It is not a substitute for a professional

Always ask a doctor or another qualified health professional about a medical condition, a symptom, a medicine, or a change to how you eat or train — particularly if you are pregnant, have a heart condition, diabetes, an eating disorder, an injury, or any chronic illness.

Never ignore professional advice, or put off getting it, because of something this app showed you.

If you think you are having a medical emergency, call 000 (or your local emergency number) immediately. This app cannot help you in an emergency, does not monitor you, and will not alert anyone on your behalf.

The numbers are estimates

Energy and macronutrient targets are worked out with standard published equations — the Mifflin-St Jeor equation for resting energy, multiplied by the activity level you selected — applied to the height, weight, age, sex and goal you typed in. They are an estimate for an average person of those figures, not a measurement of you, and they take no account of any medical condition or medication.

Nutrition figures come from public food databases and from product labels. They are frequently approximate and sometimes wrong. Portion sizes read from a photograph are an estimate of what the photograph appears to show.

Activity, heart rate and sleep figures come from Apple Health and from whatever device recorded them. Their accuracy is that device's, not ours.

Anything written by an AI model — a training plan review, a document read into your health timeline, a meal identified from a photograph — can be wrong. Check it against the original before relying on it, and never rely on it for a health decision.

Your health timeline

The health timeline is a place for you to keep your own record of vaccinations, tests, results and conditions. It is a filing cabinet, not a medical record: nothing in it has been verified by us or by any clinician, and it must not be used as the authoritative source for your care.

Anything read out of a photographed document may be transcribed incorrectly. Keep the original.

Exercise carries risk

Any exercise programme carries a risk of injury. Movements shown in the exercise library are illustrations of a general technique, not coaching supervised by anyone who can see you. Get clearance from a doctor before starting a new programme, work within your ability, and stop if something hurts.

Eating and body weight

Tracking food and weight does not suit everybody. If logging what you eat, or watching a number on a scale, is making you anxious or is feeding a disordered relationship with food, please stop using those parts of the app and speak to a professional. In Australia, the Butterfly Foundation's national helpline is 1800 33 4673.

By using the app

You accept that any decision you make about your food, training or health is yours, and that you take responsibility for it. If you are unsure, ask a professional rather than the app.
